The Sunshine Coast boasts world-class beaches, a friendly, laid-back atmosphere and great dining and accommodation options if you’d like to stay longer than a day. Morayfield is located just 30 to 40 minutes’ drive from the southernmost beaches at Kawana and Caloundra, with Coolum and Noosa about an hour’s drive away.
Caloundra is home to some of the best beaches on the Sunshine Coast, with King’s Beach one of the most popular. The sandy beach is patrolled and the swimming is generally very good, and there are a number of dining options nearby. There’s also an oceanfront saltwater swimming pool and the headland is full of rockpools boasting a myriad of marine life.
One of the quieter beaches on the Sunshine Coast, Peregian Beach is a dog-friendly beach with beautiful sand dunes and a very casual vibe. While a substantial amount of development has gone on in recent years, it remains relatively uncrowded on weekends and is a treat to visit during the week. There are some great cafes and restaurants nearby.
Yes, it’s trendy and can be more expensive than other beaches on the Sunshine Coast, but Noosa really is a must-visit destination. Boasting some of the most beautiful beaches on the coast and a fantastic nature reserve, there are so many reasons to visit Noosa. Hastings Street is always bustling and you’ll find yourself spoiled for choice with regard to dining options. Along with Noosa Heads, be sure to check out Sunshine Beach, a dog-friendly beach with gorgeous sand and great surf.
Coolum is hands-down one of the most attractive beaches on the Sunshine Coast. Located a little south of Noosa, it offers a beautiful sandy beach with smaller, rockier beaches tucked away around the headland. There are several beautiful walking trails to explore and while it isn’t as fashionable or trendy as Noosa, there are some great dining options to consider.
